At Neotropic Foundation, we believe that the future of farming lies in working with nature, not against it. Our Permaculture & Sustainable Farming initiative is designed to promote self-sufficient, regenerative agriculture that benefits both people and the planet. By implementing permaculture techniques on our farms in Costa Rica, we are teaching communities how to grow food sustainably, restore soil health, and reduce reliance on harmful chemicals.

Regenerating the Land with Smart Farming

Traditional farming methods often lead to soil depletion, deforestation, and water pollution. Permaculture offers a solution by mimicking natural ecosystems to create self-sustaining food systems. At Neotropic Foundation, we incorporate:

🌱 Organic Gardens – Using composting, companion planting, and natural fertilizers to enrich the soil.
🐝 Pollinator-Friendly Practices – Supporting bees and other beneficial insects to boost crop yields.
🌾 Agroforestry – Growing fruit trees, nuts, and medicinal plants alongside staple crops to increase biodiversity.
💧 Water Conservation Techniques – Implementing rainwater harvesting and drip irrigation to maximize water efficiency.

Teaching the Next Generation of Farmers

At our 19-acre permaculture farm, students and volunteers gain hands-on experience in growing food, raising chickens, managing beehives, and maintaining tilapia ponds. Through workshops and outreach programs, we teach composting, erosion control, and natural pest management, empowering people to grow their own food while preserving the environment.

Building a Food-Secure Future
